Rachelle Willnus Fascinators and Derby Hats are So Glamorous
My sweet friend and Derby hat designer Rachelle Willnus, is keeping busy with the pretty crowd. She designs fascinators for Kentucky Derby regulars as well as local celebrities including news anchors, top businesswomen, and influencers. She customs makes each design to fit the personality and style of her client. The brand is for the sophisticated woman who doesn’t want to look like everyone else and I’m all about it, especially when it’s time for the derby or a ladies luncheon.
Each of her pieces are couture and she never makes two pieces the same. Each fascinator is hand-crafted and designed by Rachelle as she follows color trends each season and creates pieces based on the season’s latest color schemes. This season? She’s mixing leather and sinamay fascinators for a little class and a little edgy at the same time.
Willnus has no formal training, just natural talent and a great eye for color, style, and design. She actually has eight years of college for Communication and Instructional Systems Design only to make hats. I think that’s fabulous. We all know, every path leads us to our best journey and natural talent.
Willnus enjoys setting trends in headwear and specializes not only in beautiful pieces but also in making women feel beautiful. Her clients, she says, “are beautiful inside and out and is most importantly, confident! She knows who she is!” And, I thank her for that! We need more designers that understand what it takes to be a confident woman don’t we? I always support women who support the natural inner and outer beauty of a woman.
