The Bourbon Orleans Hotel is in the Running for USA Today’s 10 Best Haunted Hotels in the U.S.
Bourbon Orleans is my absolute favorite when it comes to French Quarter hotels. The detail and design are perfect for the period, which includes cast and wrought iron fixtures, courtyards, French arch windows, and balconies. The location is just north of the famous St. Louis Cathedral and Jackson Square, and you can walk to almost anywhere you want to go.
Aside from a great location and comfortable accommodations, guests can also take a stroll around the inner courtyard, and take a dip in the heated saltwater pool.
Today, the Bourbon Orleans Hotel offers a rich experience that appeals to guests looking to stay in a historic hotel in the heart of New Orleans. The service is exceptional and the traditional room settings and decor are both warm and inviting.
The hotel has been voted as a top Hotel in Condé Nast Traveler’s Reader’s Choice Awards and is yet again on the list for one of the top 10 best-haunted hotels in the U.S. The Bourbon Orleans is said to be one of the most haunted hotels in New Orleans. In the past, the hotel was the Convent of the Holy Family and after 1960, the convent was transformed into a French Quarter hotel. The second-floor ballroom once hosted many of New Orleans’ most prestigious events by some of the most prestigious individuals and is said to have a dancer who sways on the dance floor under the large crystal chandelier. Others say you may see an elderly ghost in the great lobby who reads the newspaper and smokes a cigar as well.
