Art & Soul Dreams Shopping Event Supports Local Foster Children
There’s never too much love for a child. Especially, a child in need of love & support. I had the wonderful opportunity to produce and plan a free shopping trip for local foster children as a Board member of Project Beautiful Inside and Out. This was my first official event with the group. The Executive Director Doris was out-of-town and couldn’t attend so it was my pleasure to step up and make sure the children had a giving and memorable day as promised. The event was called the “Art & Soul Dreams Shopping Event” that consisted of a full day of shopping at our local Kohl’s of Troy and ice cream fun at Ray’s Ice Cream. All to support the foster children through the Art & Soul Dreams program.
With the community’s support and generous donations, we were able to give 18 foster kids $300 gift cards to shop at Kohl’s for clothes, hair supplies/accessories. and educational toys. Ray’s Ice Cream was a generous sponsor and offered each child a free ice cream cone prior to the private shopping event.
I saw so much kindness and support during this event and spending one-on-one time with the children was truly a blessing.
Thank you to our generous sponsors and to several of my friends who not only donated to the event but who also spent the afternoon shopping w/ a foster child as volunteer guides. Because of all of you, the children had a very special day today and will remember it for years to come. They will also be dressed warmly and will have the clothing they need for our Michigan weather and day-to-day living. (Sorry, we have to protect the children’s identities so I cannot share many pics of them).
